DET Format and Structure

The DET includes different question types. You'll see interactive reading questions. Expect listening questions, too. Speaking and writing sections are included. The test adapts as you answer. This means the difficulty changes.

There is also an unscored video interview. A writing sample is part of this as well. The whole test takes about an hour. Each section has its own time limit.

Scoring System and Interpretation

The DET uses a scale from 10 to 160. Higher scores mean better English. Each range shows your skill level. A score of 120 might be like a certain TOEFL score. A score of 140 is even better.
